Award Nomination

The Alumni Council is looking for suggestions for honorees for its top four awards. The awards are presented each year at the Alumni Association Awards Banquet during Homecoming/Alumni Weekend.

The Torchlighter Award is given to honor those who have made significant, long-standing contributions and commitment to Park, whether Alumni, faculty or friend. Recipients who are not Park alumni will be bestowed with the honor of Honorary Alumnus/a.

The Park Promising Young Professional Award recognizes a new graduate who shows exceptional leadership and contribution to their profession, and/or community, as well as recognizes and rewards individuals that exemplify the energy, ambition, and dedication required for future success. This award is based on the accomplishments of the graduate after completing his/her Park degree. Student accomplishments are not considered. The candidate is on the “fast track” to success post-graduation. The recipient of this award will have graduated from a Park degree program in the last ten years and is under 40 years of age.

The association awards the Marlowe Sherwood Memorial Service Award to alumni for outstanding volunteer service to community/civic organizations.

The Distinguished Alumnus/a Award is given to an alumnus/a who has distinguished himself or herself through career, service or community achievements. The candidate for this award is a graduate who is ranked at the top of his/her profession. Past recipients have been the Chief of the Kansas City Police Department, the Chief Master Sergeant of the Air Force, a presidential speech writer and prize-winning author, CEOs, inventors, and such.
